We’ve been to the bars, drunk the drinks and partied non stop to find out where some of the best après spots are. When it comes to picking a holiday, what often comes second to the resort is the après ski on offer. Ranging from pubs to clubs and from log-lit lodges to piano bars après can start as early as lunchtime but can last until the early hours of the next morning. Here are our recommended top spots in St Anton am Arlberg.
Resort: St Anton am Arlberg
Krazy Kangaruh (KK)
With an all-new extension making the KK bigger and better than ever for this season – we think it’s fair to say this place sets the benchmark for all other après bars to follow. On the home run – and situated behind the also popular Taps – this is the place where anything goes. Owned by Austria’s very own Mario Matt, expect shot girls hopping from table to table pouring shot of Jägermeister into any willing open-mouth, dancing in your ski boots like you can’t stop and a friendly, crazy party atmosphere.
The Moosewirt (pictured)
Also on the home run, at 3.30pm –the shutters come down and the disco lights come up – transforming The Mooserwirt (which claims to sell more beer per square meter than anywhere else in Austria) into wooden cladded euro-pop club where the beer flows as quickly as the predominantly German crowd can drink it. The waiters carry huge trays of beer so you don’t even have to go to the bar when you’ve run dry.
*Both bars are on the mountain and close at 8pm
The Trofana Alm
It’s always booming thanks to their Europop loving DJ. By 6pm this big, old, wooden barn is packed to the rafters – sweat pours down the walls and you’ll be belting out German songs like you’ve known them forever.
After partying up on the mountain at the Penken head to this place which is easily found because of the booming music and crowd sprawling out of the front door. Expect to be yanked onto the tables and dancing to the tunes as soon as you arrive.
White Lounge Big Igloo party
This is one the hippest spots to après and only happens on a Tuesday. Not only do you get live DJ’s spinning the deck you also get to party in a igloo! As part of the Igloo Village, located in the middle of the Ahorn ski area at 2000m, you get there and back by the cable car. Definitely worth having a quiet Monday night for!
